One of the new designers at the just concluded afwn 2016 said “fashion is not just about the fabric, its about the person, the world and the creative imaginations”, well I do agree with everything except the fabric part because you see, the Ankara fabric used to create gorgeous Ankara styles has a life on its own. This vibrant piece has won the hearts of not just the africans who love them but the world and this is because the patterns and designs are about us africans, its about our cultural heritage.

So I say, African fashion is about the fabric, this fabric is the way to show the world that they can embrace and love our culture; this unified African print is a symbol and its only right to use this symbol in the most creative way which is turning the fabric into something fascinating and interesting.
