INDONESIAN DESIGNER HASIBUAN SHOWCASES THE FIRST EVER HIJAB COLLECTION AT THE NYFW
An Indonesian womenswear designer Hasibuan showcased her design at the NYFW. She showed all the piece from the collection complete with a hijab to style every single look.This is the first time this is happening and it is wonderful. Hasibuan revealed that in Jakarta, hijabs are paired with chic pieces like trousers, tops and other chic pieces. She said it is a place where modest dressing is in place and widely encouraged. She told ‘The Jakarta Post’ her brand is out to promote decent and minimalist dressing.
The collection presented include embellished kimonos, dresses, tunics in silk and colourful designs showing minimalist timeless pieces that got rave reviews afterwards.
“I want to bring the Indonesian name to the fashion world, and use my clothes to introduce people to the different and diverse parts of Indonesia” the brand’s creative director told ‘The Jakarta Post‘ after presenting the collection
The designer, who has been designing for just over a year, reportedly received a standing ovation at the end of her presentation.
