Silk, Satin & Bold Colors! An Exclusive Look At Chimmy & Co’s Spring/Summer 2021 Collection

Chimmy & Co., a fast-rising Nigerian ethical clothing brand with functional ready-to-wear, and custom designs has presented its Spring/Summer 2021 collection.

The new season boasts rich gradient hues and is inspired by seasons and time, all while keeping in tune with the brand’s signature design touches which is for “people who are bold, versatile and think-freely.”

“Our pieces are made to make a statement for itself: to be confident,” the Creative Director Chimmuanya Ijezie tells us over email. He adds, “We are passionate about the need for creativity, expressiveness, confidence, uniqueness and vocalness in what you wear and this is all what Chimmy & Co. is about. Empowering you to live freely and be the true you without limitation, a true afro-modernist.”

Bright colors and fragile fabrics ranging from silks and satin to crepe and polyester dominate the SS21 collection tagged “Journey to Self“. Standouts include the décolletage suit and bell bottom pants which is served in orange and earthy green hue, as well as the silk shirts and stylish pants which appear in shades including green, blue, orange, pink and red.

According to Ijezie, this collection is inspired by his own self realization journey. He says, “The collection is inspired by a question from a friend: Who are you really? This motivated me to dig deeper and rediscover who I really am, and what inspires our clothing. Journey to Self is more than a collection to me, it’s more like a journey to self discovery and self realization.”
