#NYFW! Tom Ford Autumn/Winter 2018 Ready-To-Wear Collection
Since he relocated from London to Los Angeles last year, Tom Ford has rediscovered the glamour of the West Coast. He interpreted it in a decidedly 1980s collection of jumpsuits, mini dresses and leggings patch-worked from the most baroque motifs in the fashion encyclopedia.
It would be easy to hammer the nostalgia sign over Ford’s collection, but rather than some blue-eyed yearning for better times long gone, he seemed to be drawing parallels between the past and present. The encrusted crystal motif of a handbag made out the words “Pussy Power”, a familiar statement in these times of second-wave feminism fronted by the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements.
